My employer is brags that he can take a % of wages from an employee three or four times a year, can he?
Answers:
You need to post more specifics. Under what circumstances? In what state or country do you work?
Your employer seems to be a very strange individual with absolutely no respect for his workers. He must comply with the Contract of Employment issued when you were hired
Depends. If you owe child support they can garnish your wages up to a certain percent. Maybe that is what he was talking about. But if it is to put in his own pocket I don't think so. Next time he says that call him on it. If he tries to do it then tell him to go blow himself and walk out. Nobody deserves to take that from an employer.
Your question is too vague to answer. What type of deductions is your employer referring to?
These deductions can be perfectly legal for a number of reasons.
If there is no legal reason then the employer cannot make such deductions.
It might be a good idea for you to document these employer assertions and report them to your State's Labor Relation Board and get their opinion, no one here has enough information to advise you.
No. In the U.S., it is against the law.
Call the department of labor in Texas, let them handle it.
