Should fireworks be banned?
I live in Utah which is very very DRY and we have had several major fires in the past few weeks, and over 100 degree weather.
Do you think Utah, and other places like it should have a ban on personal fireworks? or..do you find it to be a tradition we shouldn't let go of?
I enjoy buying fireworks and letting them off, but I am not sure about this issue after seeing so many wildfires recently.
Answers:
Yes I do, and here is why:
1) Thousands of children every year are injured or maimed by fireworks because parents do not supervise them.
2) More fires are cause every year in America by fireworks that lightening strikes.
3) They are loud, obnoxious, annoying and the remnants (detritus) they leave behind pollute our environment.
I have no problem with professional fireworks shows, only personally bought ones used for personal use.
Here in Illinois it is illegal to detonate ANY type of fireworks, and every year the state issues over $100k in fines. But people still do it, kids keep getting their fingers blown off and the noise is horrid.
The only thing that should be banned are dumb people and politicians (which are normally the same thing)
Fireworks don't start fires, idiots do. We have had the same problems here in Texas in the past. They just regulate the use a little more
No. Because if the fireworks are done the right way there should be no problems. For the dumb people who think it is cool and funny to watch fireworks blow stuff up and catch fire of things, sometimes causing fire to bigger things, then they should be the ones who are banned from firing them off.
Nothing wrong with fireworks in the hand of responsible people.
