Is it illegal to give a fake adress and phone number for registering on a free website?

I was wondering if it is legal to give a fake adress and phone number on a free website.

Answers:
If you don't want junk mail and telephone salespeople calling you, just have a typing error when giving your address and phone number. I know of no law against it.

I think it's a pretty good idea. Then you won't be bombarded with unwanted e-mails and junk mail in your mailbox.
I don't think so.
no its fine i allways give fake addresses its to riskey to give the real ones , unless its a goverment website thne you could get into trouble

God luck
Only give your real adress and phone number if you want those people contacting you (like if you're ordering something online). Otherwise, have fun. People do it all the time. It's not really enough of an issue to get charges pressed. Also, I sign my friends up for that stuff all the time and it's not only non-illegal, it's FUNNY.
With all the phishing and other BS on the web today I think it should be illegal not to follow your example. I can't remember ever finding anything that was truly free, there is almost always some trick or advertising gimmick behind it. Take our free survey you might win a box of cracker jacks. But you have to sign up for 2 or 3 of our sponsor offers to qualify, BULLSHIT!!!!! These people should be DELETED! The true web was set up to be free for everyone, and look how it is being used. Let's try to go back to what it was truly intended to be. Free for everyone regardless.
