Privacy questions?
this is regaurding residentual privacy.
1. can someone get in trouble, if they are told to go into someones house,(without knocking, like the house owners let them walk in)
2. can a house owner walk into a bathroom that is being occupied by a guest, or in a bedroom, if permitted to get changed in.
3. is backyard crossing legal
Answer:
1. I think the homeowner and residents still have a reasonable expectation of privacy as to the non-common areas of the home where a guest would normally need additional permission to enter. Common areas - living room, dining room, kitchen; non-common areas - bedroom, private study.
2. Everybody has a reasonable expectation of privacy while occupying a bathroom. But if the homeowner walks in by mistake, it's a mistake - not actionable. Cameras or whatnot are another issue.
3. Crossing the backyard is trespass. The homeowner has an action against the trespasser, but I don't think there's any privacy right to things in plain view. Remember, the police can look over your fence or fly over with a helicopter.
Any things that you do without asking permission to the owner of the house is illegal. Or you will be charge of tresspassing whether you are the owner of that rented house. You should ask first permission to enter certain premises for respect to the occupants and to evade legal matters.
