Dear Pharmacists, is there any kind of law or regulation that limits the distance between two pharmacies?

We are planing an international research regarding the limitation on providing pharmaceutical services. One of the steps is to compare different local, regional, state or national laws and regulations that limits the distance of two pharmacies. For instance there is a law in some countries that limits the establishment of a new pharmacy unless it has certain distance from other pharmacies.
Please kindly provide us with the technical info, preferably supported with official resources.

There are no limitations in the US as to where you can construct a pharmacy other then local zoning laws restricting businesses in general. You can not construct a pharmacy in an area zoned residential for example. There are practical reasons such as competition, population base, etc that are the critical factors.

In the US, I don't believe there are any blanket restrictions on this, but of course local governments have zoning power and can zone a plot of land to prevent a pharmacy from being built if they want to.
both good answers. Texjeff mentioned the single most important factor and that is "can I even compete where I wish to locate?".
