Can Intellectuality flourish in India where Democracy is depended on corruption and rowdyism.?
Many Indians raised to top positions all over the world. In India there is less opportunity to prove it than out-side India. Politics, beurocracy and corrution are not allowing intillegent to flourish in their own land.
Answers:
This is not entirely true. In government or semi govt organisations, yes, these are not ideal conditions for intellectuals to flourish, within the system, anyway. But there is no such barrier in private organisations, where hard workers, intellectuals and creative persons blossom. Over and above the private sphere, our media and higher judiciary are also flourishing, as can be seen in examples everyday.
This is a one-sided view as any Indian who leaves home is for hard working and in search of exclusive careers. Regarding opportunities both inside and outside are the same, but difference is only on the impression. Polityics, beaurocracy and corruption (only visible part for few pessimists ) are a part of life like the wild animals big kills the small and big eats the small, which does not have a solution in universal life. Relinquishing life is the only solution for which each of us should be prepared. Democracy does not depend on corruption or rowdyism, but we are yet to be trained to be the real democrats - give the excess to the needy and deserving - This is lacking on our part.
It is nearly impossible for the truth-loving intellectuals in India to flourish at present. I agree with you on your view on corruption and rowdyism in India.
Our competent judiciary is still alive in its full senses to protect and let the intelect flourish in all aspects of life otherwise we would not have been where we are today and the world looks at us with awe. What is required is that the wrong deeds of corruption and rowdyism should be draged to the court of law in real perspective without considering the harsh fact that it could take one's entire life to get the guilty punished. Even if it takes the entire life of a responsible citizen there will arise another to take on the reponsibility and tread ahead.
This is just a lie propagated by the NRIs who want to justify that they did the best and they are the best. Yes! We do have all the problems you have mentioned and these are not exclusive to India. Possibly, inour religious up bringing the self is stressed more and the society is forgotten. We follow the rule: By hook or crook, make more money, live well , save for your seven generations and let the fellows who are left behind in this race, go to the devil. If inspite of this, we are showing progress, means there is hope andintellectuals are existing- may be they dont make a much money as the venal NRIs .
