Do You Think Prostitution should be Legalized in the USA ?

It seems to me that ,if they want to,are going to, do that anyway ... then, why shouldn't they be under the protection of a regulated system? (I feel the same way about abortion, too, btw)
besides...
then they could Pay Taxes, contribute to socialsecurity,etc.. plus we could require them to have monthly STD testing, and even drug testing, maybe.they should also be tested to show that they are on ThePill . i mean ,think about it , if They AREThe Product. ,and USproducts are subject to inspection guidelines, then they would need to be inspected regularly, Yes?
i mean , my reasoning is.. if a body's gonna go out and cheat on their mate, isn't it at least a little-better for their spouse, if the Cheater goes to a place that won't let theCheater take anything back home with Cheater?
and other than that, it's just the moral issue ,no?
Personally,i really don't feel like i have any say over anyone else's moral values. i just don't do business or talk ,with ppl like that.

Answer:
Yes, I think prostitution should be legalized, not only in the USA, but everywhere. Legalizing personal liberty prevents crime. Prostitution is a profession like any other profession, services are rendered for pay without any pain to others intended. That's all. Nothing to do with so called morality.
Moreover, it's not only cheaters who go to prostitutes.

Absolutely.
Well i don't agree with them doing it. But there is always that fact that i hear people say all the time "If you can have sex for free why can't you sell it"
I would never hire a prostitute (I wouldn't want to ruin my life by contracting and STD for only a few minutes [ :-p ] of pleasure.), however I think it should be legalized because I'm pro-choice. If you want to, and if you're not hurting anybody, then why not go ahead and do it? Prostitutes gotta pay bills and eat too!

If you knowingly have an STD, then yes, the law should prevent you from engaging in prostitution.
I have always believed that though prostitution is morally wrong, it is right to legalise, or at least de-criminalise, it
There are distinct advantages to doing so, many of which you've mentioned. Better protection for the women, removal of the pimp (read: crime), huges reduction in the exploitation of under-age girls, regulation of brothels, insisting on STD tests for renewal of "license to operate", removal of kerb girls and their abuse

Unfortunately, you are not going to stop some men using women, and as long as that's the case, prostitution will always exit. The question is; do we continue to (try to) push it underground
selling is legal
sex is legal

why is selling sex illegal? Because it can't be controlled.

if it was regulated and treated like a normal business, I don't see why it should be outlawed.
I disagree. Just because people are going to go out and do it anyway, doesn't mean that it's right!!
Yes, I think it probably should be legalized for all of the reasons that you gave.
It would make it much more convenient for people to satisfy their inborn urges, without spending a lot of extra money.
Think legalization would be a good thing. Especially would be good for those who are single, or for some other reason do not have a partner readily available. You could also fulfill some of those fantasies that you have always thought about.
No, as like abortion, it is imoral. So is murder, stealing, lying, doing drugs, Cheating on a partner. It doesnt matter if you get a dissese or not its still imoral. Ot still hurts the human soul, it still leavs effects on a person. It hurts and leaves a negitive mark on a person. Whether or not you may see it... I think all these above are wrong and should NOT be legal
Yes, I do, and for many of the same reasons you cite. Keeping it illegal creates secondary crimes, such as robbery, assault, deliberate health risks, and others.
I feel that it should not be legalized. This is another way for men as well as women to think its ok for sexual relations outside a marriage. I'm old fashioned but it's still in fashion. I don't want my mate cheating on me and I do not want to cheat on her. To many divorces in this country now. People need to start staying together and working there problems out. There are other ways for these people to make money besides being on there back. Unless they are a mechanic.
It is -- states rights, Nevada is the only state that it's
practiced in i believe.
I wouldnt care if it was legalized as long as it was a brothel type of place ... kinda like the bunny ranch in Nevada where the girls are subject to health inspections all the time and are constantly tested for HIV/AIDS and all the other STD's, there was no drug use going on & they all have to be drug tested, and the brothel was also subject to inspections and all that to make sure they were treating the girls right etc...etc.. then I dont see why not really. Who cares about why the girls want to be prostitutes - its their life and if they want to do that for a living then so be it! It wouldnt affect me one way or the other and it would probably clean up the problem we have now of the prostitutes who prostitute themselves on the streets, making crap money, risking their life or well being getting into car after car with different men, working for a pimp who takes all their money, they would be less likely to get hooked on crack or some other drug, getting killed ...etc the list goes on and on

at least at a brothel they would be safe, have a place to live and be making money for themselves to keep and save!!
First off, this hasn't been thought through.

Sure, you can call it a profession, and that a person can do with their body what they wish - but the majority of male and female prostitutes are in the business because of extreme life circumstances.

No one wakes up one day in their youth and says - "Hey, I want to sell my body for sex" in the same way they say "Hey, I want to become a doctor."

Think this through people.

The individuals who sell their bodies are suffering from far more than STD's and sore bodies. They are mentally and emotionally affected - in different ways. Some of these people become emotional wrecks, some become paranoid, some become extremely withdrawn and are incapable of expressing anything - most start to hate sex.

So in the pursuit of legalizing this section of the industry, we are only creating social deviants, messed-up-inside people - all for the sake of money.

These people will have children. And the sickness will perpetuate.

Think.
I TOTALLY AGREE WITH YOU LAURIE, I DONT THINK THEY MAKE IT LEGALIZED IN THE U.S.EXACTLY IF THEY DO WANT TO LEGALIZE IT THEN IT SHOULD BE UNDER CERTAIN CRITERIA AND REGULATED BY ALL MEANS, I FEEL THAT WAY WITH THAT TOPIC AS WELL AS ABORTION AND ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS, BUT HEY THATS ANOTHER TOPIC.. BUT YES I TOTALLY AGREE IF THEY DO WANT TO LEGALIZE PROSTITUTION THEN ATLEAST PROTECT THE SPOUSE IF THEY ARE MARRIED, AS WELL AS CRITERIA AND REGULATION, LIKE THEY HAVE ON CERTAIN OTHER ISSUES IN AMERICA...
