U.S. government's attempts to promote uniformity in commercial laws from state to state?

Answers:
Two different concepts.

The uniformity of state laws is usually the result of private groups and think-tanks drafting sample legislation which states later adopt -- that's how the Uniform Commercial Code and similar uniform statutes came about.

The other is the federal govt trying to impose standards by bribing and blackmailing state legislatures -- thats how state drinking ages and federal speed limits came about.
