Can I sue the man I was engaged to because I found out he was married?

I had a four year relationship, one year engaged, with a man who was not the man he said he was. He lied about everything including his marital status.

Answers:
I don't think you can sue successfully. This happens a lot. I know it's painful but try to get over him and move on with your life. For the next man you meet, do a background search before it gets really serious. Best of luck.

Probably not. Anyone can sue but you don't have any legal grounds to win. It is up to you to investigate the person.
Sure you can, but expect the wife to counter sue you for alienation of affections.
yeah sue him....for half of his half....lol
No.
What exactly are your damages?
You can't sue for hurt feelings. Well you can. But you don't have grounds for a lawsuit. "Pain & suffering" that you hear people suing for is much more than feeling betrayed.
Sorry this happened to you, but be glad you didn't find out AFTER the wedding, or after you had kids with him.
4 years? Stupid women, it's so easy to trick you, I feel wonderful about your intelligence
If you spent money on wedding preparations after you got engaged, you'd probably have good grounds there.
first of all, whether you can initiate legal proceedings or not depends on the law applicable where you live.

In my opinion, there is no reason why a case such as this would not attract a criminal case of fraud
also, successful claims have been made on grounds of mental agony and torture. the tort law, i.e. the law of civil wrongs in ur area might cover this.

seek professional advice if u r serious about this.
first do not pay attention to some of the previous postings. it's not because someone used you that it makes you stupid.
second, if because of you being engaged to him, you suffered financial prejudices, you can sue for those. IE you prepaid caterers for your wedding day, I'll have to reimburse you for that.
good luck...
