What does it mean if you're charged with criminal sexual conduct?
i've been watching "to catch a predator" on nbc and looked up my zip code in the sex offender registery and most of the criminals in my area have been charged with criminal sexual conduct in the first, second, and third degree. what does this mean and what does someone do to be designated to these certain degrees?

A. -- In THIS witch-hunting day and age, it probably means that you're thoroughly screwed for life. "Degree" means nothing. No matter how innocuous, anyone getting on that list is totally screwed in many, many ways -- forever! Even if he never commits another offense. (And that *predatory*, ratings-greedy show SHOULD be honestly named, "To ENTRAP a Predator.")
It can mean a whole slue of things. Some of those people do not deserve to be on the list while others should be behind bars.
It is regrettable they don't put in more detail in these lists. For one thing a person on the list could invent any story he likes to explain his presence on there makeing himself sound harmless.
