How can I keep my home after divorce?

I have had erectile dysfunction for four years, 4 years my wife and I are married and I have sought many treatments. I am finally recovering, although my wife, who has now quit her job and is going back to her home country for three months, leaving me to run the home, tells me she deserves happiness and regular sex (I agree) - she won't go counselling, but says I can't change the locks when she goes. I thought we were working it out - in fact we had sex this week - but it's never good enough for her, and she has also told me she fantasised about her boss. She says hand masturbation or toys are things she can do herself - so she does'nt need me. So should I lose my home because she wants to clean me out (as I see it) when she comes back off her trip? I feel the marriage is beyond saving, but don't think I should lose my home baceuse she is not wanting to stay the course with me. Can a lawyer protect me? I am scared - if she really wants to leave me what can I do? I just want my home now

Hi,

I am sorry to hear of your plight and your wife who after years of mariage has turned out to be so harsh about things. We can all understand it has been dificult for her aswell as you but you do not deserve this sort of abuse from her. It is mental abuse she is giving you and that is ilegal. You need to speak a a lawyer regarding this whole situ

You don't lose your home automatically but if their are children involved then the man, or the person who the children are not staying with, are morally expected to give up their home.

However what generally happens and the law sicks with this is if the house is in both your names then the house belongs to the both of you and if one of you wish to stay living in it then you have to buy the other half out at the value of which your home is today.

Right now the only stability you have is your home and that is why you want to stay there but if she intends on moving back to her home town then the likelihood is she will want you to either buy her out or if you can't afford it, the house to be put on the open market so that she has money to move on.

She sounds like she wil take you for everything she can, I mean what sort of woman ells you about her fantasies etcetc not all women will be this harsh.

I hope things work out for you and give me a shout if you ever need to talk.

You need the help of a lawyer, this can be a complex and expensive situation to resolve ,so you get the best deal
After just four years it's still classed as a short term marriage and 50/50 splits are unusual.

Your best bet is to start DIVORCE proceedings here so that English law applies, rather than having to pay for an overseas solicitor.

Unless there was a real contribution to the house on her part it's unlikely you will lose it. If she did contribute equally then you should expect to pay her what she's due and not waste money argueing the toss through the courts.
I would consult a lawyer straight away.you don,t say if you have children, definitly change the locks.possesion can be argued out in court ,you should also have previously, after talking it out with your wife, have sought your doctors help with your erectile disfunction, although this has probably been caused by your wife putting you under pressure.if you have no children and you split up ,the house may have to be sold and the proceeds shared equally.looking back you will always feel you could have handled it differently, best of luck my friend, but act now!! it,s better than doing nothing. ,
This woman is hard work is shr not ? why have you not said
well you know where the door is if you don't like it here.

See a solicitor/lawyer asap you have rights !
who pays the mortgage, you/ her ? is the deeds of the house
in your name or both, this is very impotant, also do you both
have a joint bank account where the money comes out if so change it, but see someone about the house etc , if your name is on deeds only then you have a stronger case.

I must say you would be better off without this person, and plz
mail me soon to tell me whats happening.
