Who is responsible if your things were ruined while you were away but still paying rent to hold the aprt?

Landlords or am I on my own?

Answers:
Yourself unfortunately, that's why they sell renters insurance.

if you are paying renters insurance, then it is the landlords responsibility. They ask you when you first move in.
If you are not, then it would be your responsibility.
Same goes for home owners insurance. This is what it is designed for. Sorry to say, but lesson learned.
You are responsible for your own things. The landlord is only responsible for the building.
Depends; how was the stuff ruined?
First, that is what Renters Insurance is for. Second, it depends on how your things got damaged. If it was preventable by you, such as reporting a leak or locking the door, then you are responsible. Otherwise, the landlord is. Lesson: Get Renters Insurance!
