I am currently staying at leave's the washroom open all night for people to wash clothes-which can be hazardous to children-and let's teenagers stay out all night .There is a cop who live's here and he and his wife harrass people out of the pool-bragging about being a cop, getting you kicked out,ect.-is this legal? And can I put in a harrassment complaint in with the police dept. and against the apartment complex. Also, after they "Chase" people out, everybody and their momma jump over the fence and are back in.
Answers:
If an apartment complex has a sign posted, near the pool, for specific hours - then they do have the right to tell you to leave.
The hours are for your and their protection.
The laundry room needs to have hours posted too and then locked up at night.
The facilities are for those who legally live there and NO one else!!!!!!! You can NOT file a complaint against someone who has NOT broken any law!!!!!!
As a renter - you have rights to a habitable place to live and the noise level down after 10 pm. Apartment complex managers do have the right to kick people out if they are NOT legally renting an apartment there.
Before you go off and do something stupid - read your town's 'rights and rules' of apartment renters.
Apartment complex can legally close the pool. I have never heard of one being closed at 10 pm though. They are mostly closed at sun down so that time is preety good. As far as the cop's wife, she has no right to tell anyone anything unless she is on the payroll of the complex. She is just a neighbor. find out the rules and regulations of your comlpex which should be on your lease and at the office. You can absolutely complain about her. It doesn't matter who she is. She can actually work for the complex and you can still complain. Try finding out the rules first and then form a complaint. The complex should have an onsite property manager but if not then take pictures if you are concerned about people interrupting your peace.
