I got married 2 yrs. ago in VEGAS & never filed anything in CA is it legal?
Answers:
If you were legally married in Las Vegas, your marriage is recognized in all 50 states. There isn't anything to have filed in California. You are not legally required to change your name so you don't have to file anything with Social Security either.
As long as you have lic it sure is
if it was a legal wedding, then it's legal everywhere. didn't you change your license or name? especially on your SS card.
A marriage license is not like a drivers license... you don't register it everywhere you go; if you got married in Las Vegas, Nevada then yes you are married in California and everywhere else you go.
Additional: If you take his last name, your drivers license number will change (First letter and following three numbers).
It doesn't matter what state or country you got married in, if it was done legally in that state or country, it is recognized everywhere. I was married in Germany and it was recognized in the US.
I doubt you are asking if it is legal to not file anything in CA as if all was well you would just be doing normal things. To change your paperwork with social security, health insurance or whatever... you just show your marriage certificate.
As far as your marriage to be considered legal? As others have said it is legal everywhere... even if you had moved to another country. Thats why people travel to Vegas to get married... no going to a courthouse to get a license ahead of time and all of that. You get married right then, right now.
