What do you think about prostitution?
Other then the fact that it's illegal, what do you think of it? Would it make you a ho? What if you were desperate and there was no other way of getting money? Please answer!

Business is business!And is not illegal everywhere.And no one has the right to pass moral judgement aganist you for doing it because,,they have no clue!
A "ho" as you put it does it for free. Would I do it if I were desperate? I have been desperate and worked two jobs instead.

Or put another way -- why should an activity that is otherwise legal suddenly become illegal just because money changes hands...
I personally don't think there's anything wrong with it per se. We all sell some part of ourselves and our time to someone - it's called having a job.
The real problem with prostitution in the US is that you inevitably get mixed up with someone who WILL be your pimp - whether you want one or not. It's all down hill from there, and once you have that first prostitution conviction, every future employer will know about it. It's a hard cycle to break out of.

No it wouldn't make you a ho, it'd make you a filthy whore... And no, there's other ways to get money other than selling your body... Like maybe, get a job. There's welfare, jobs, even side jobs. It doesn't matter if welfare is looked down on by some people, prostitution is easily looked down on by more people. I would be homeless and broke before I would sell myself. There's always another way.

Prostitution is illegal because it is sex for money.
It's the world's oldest proffession - and with good reason. Very few other things you can do to get that much money in that little time unless you are lucky enough to be born into a rich family.
It's not illegal everywhere, in my county, in my state, it is legal. I think it should be legal everywhere. Prostitution is what we call a Victimless crime. The only people who could possibly get hurt by it are the ones who make a conscience choice to get involved with it. If you don't like it or don't want anything to do with it you are not forced to participate. I think some girls like that lifestyle and they choose it for themselves. We keep arresting prostitutes and their customers, and taking up valueable jail cells that could be used for hardcore criminals.
It is legal in Nevada. I don't agree with it but can see where some people think it is a necessity. I am glad that I am not one although they make very good money. I guess if one likes sex then it is the way to go. It would be hard for me to look myself in the mirror but even moreso I plan to be married one day and it would be hard for my man to accept that I was with so many other men for money. He is a firm believer that you cannot turn a ho into a housewife. :)

Prostitutes are at least honest about it. A lot of women are prostitutes, but don't realize they are. This for That. It's that simple.

Take the movie "Pretty Woman" and throw it out of your mind. Instead, tune to the TV show "COPS" to get an idea as to what that profession is like.
You'll be banging the ugliest, nastiest, scummiest, dregs of society, and in order to cope with it you'll have to be high. Basically just throw your life away.
Prostitution should be a decision between two consenting adults. I see it as a voluntary equal exchange between people who each have something that the other wants or needs.

you know how the saying goes "if there is a will, there is a way" so I'm sure that there is other way to survive. just have to try harder. i think prostitution is baddddddd..not healthy for both party. think of all the diseases and who know what else could happen.
I think that prostitution ought to be legalized ... it would be much safer for the women who are prostitutes, and they could 'unionize' (although they already have a union, although not a 'legal' one since their 'business' is illegal) and get 'benefits' like good health care, etc. As it is, while some of the 'johns' are occasionally arrested, it's usually the 'girls' who are arrested, and then when their 'pimps' bail them out, they get beaten ... and most of them are 'hooked' on illegal drugs before they are 'put on the street' to make money ... and must pay more money to the pimps than they get to keep to buy the drugs they need ... it's a TERRIBLE LIFE and no woman should have to live that way, and if it was legalized, they wouldn't have to.
I think prostitution is a poor choice for a woman to make to do with her body. I believe any woman with any self respect would not lower her self to selling her body for money. As for being the only way to get money..bull crap.there are other jobs to get that don't require a good education...like cleaning residences/businesses, waitress etc...I'm a successful person in life but I would rather work at McDonald's than sell my body and soul for money..
I think it degrades the person and does more damage then not having any money in the longrun. You will lost all innocense in your life if you do this. Make money online if you can.

I do know overseas in some places they have requirements for prostitution. They have to get STD check and things like that. I don't know if they actually do it but it is in the rules.

There is no such thing as "no other way of getting money" except by being a prostitute. There are decent ways to earn a living without selling your body to strangers. To name some: work in a department store, fast food places, board and care homes, hospitals, day care centers and similar places. I do not mean working as administrators because that position requires higher education, but work in any capacity such as clerk, cashiers, bus girl or dishwasher in a restaurant, caregiver or aide in hospital, maid in a hotel, etc.
I've always felt that it should be legalized, licensed, and taxed- just like ANY other business. That would "clean it up", stop women from being "pimped" & victemized, and free up the Police to chase after REAL criminals (instead of street walkers). The "World's Oldest Profession" -is THAT WAY- for a REASON. And it's NEVER going to GO AWAY- no matter HOW HARD Society tries to be rid of it. It's time we dealt with the Issue HONESTLY, and STOP penalizing the women who make their living on it.

I agree that it's a victim less crime. I am not going to be a prostitute, and I wont work at McDonald's either but that does not give me the right to tell other what to do. As long as they are 18 and are not forcing men or women to have sex with them I don't see the big deal. Everyone who thinks this is going to go away needs to wake up. Its the world oldest profession for a reason. Why not make it legal and have it regulated so that there will not be pimps abusing women and women never getting AIDS test. Plus the government could make money by collecting taxes. The tax money saved by not putting them in jail and collecting income tax could go to preventing women from going into the profession in the first place, like maybe a job training program. This is the same way tobacco laws work, and we all know smoking is not good for your health either.
I think the Prostitution it's a illegal and many Filipinos especially to the female under of age below 18 are being a prostitute and I think the Congress or even the Senators are not to do the Bill for the Prostitute Act and I think they not solved it or even to action it about this issues.Sometimes the NBI or Manila Police were action and to rescue to the minor prostitutes inside the clubs or motels even some gays were also being a prostitutes.The reasons being a prostitute like they want to buy their own bodies for having a money,due to poverty,family problems,stop for schooling,being a rebellious to their families,taking the drugs and even they might to get sick like a STD or UTI.I don't know if the President should be to talked and resolved it about this prostitutions and we must to helped to all teenagers,gays,or even young women whose the victimized in the prostitutions and we must to fight it and must be to save to all the people.
It is the oldest job in the world for a reason. There is demand for it. It is all about supply and demand. Plus if it helps give an outlet to otherwise potentially dodgy people that might otherwise seek it elsewhere than I am all for it.
I don't agree that it's a "victimless" crime.
The prostitute herself is a victim of degradation. Most prostitutes are drug addicts who have no other means of supporting their habit.
The customer may well become a victim, by procuring an STD and possibly passing it on to others (like his wife.) Another victim.
And the taxpayers are victims, because we pay for the police who must deal with hookers and johns...because, it IS illegal.
I've had a couple of friends who have been prostitutes and man are they fucked in the head . Honestly who wants to do that?
I really think it's an effect of being abused as a child. instead of sending them to jail, send them to ******* therapy for christ sakes.
