Cannabis crime, is it reasonable to assume when i ingest cannabis i am committing a real crime?

Answers:
Civilized nations do not make war on plants. And, if you lived in one, then the consumption of cannabis would not be a crime. However, if you're like most people in this forum, then you live in a fairly repressive police state that has only the sheerest facade of democracy to delude the uneducated... in which case, you probably are at risk for persecution.

Yes, just like when I drive at 34MPH in a 30MPH zone.

What a pair of criminals we are.

(that was sarcasm for you thumbs down nazis)
We all ingest a lot of things ... as long as you don't resell it, I guess it's not a crime in the UK.
If you are driving a car then yeah, you are under the influence of illegal substances and should rot in jail for it.

You really should just smoke it rather than eat it. Its got 4000 poisons in it. Not good.

Stick to the 'erbs dude. Safer.
Whatever the law says, most people would define a crime as something that directly or indirectly causes harm or loss to someone else.

This means that many middles class drug users, who have steady jobs, don't consider buying a line of coke or an ounce of pot and using it in the privacy of their own home to be a crime, any more than buying a bottle of whisky and drinking it in their own home would be a crime. It isn't like they mugged an old lady or burgled a house to get the money.

Unfortunately, the law sees no difference between them and some spotty crackhead living in a squat who snatches handbags to get his fix.

As someone wiser than me once said, rules are for the guidance of the wise and the blind obedience of fools.
It depends what you mean by 'a real crime'. In one sense this is simply some action that your local legal system can prosecute you for, and maybe punish you. So you can answer your question by enquiring at the local police station, or asking a lawyer.

But if you mean something that is 'morally wrong', then the answer is more complex. It is recognised that certain laws have no moral content, or are themselves unjust or otherwise immoral. An examples could be racially discriminatory laws (apartheid laws, for example).

In the case of cannabis the justification often given for making its use illegal is that it is detrimental to health. And yet other much more harmful recreational drugs, such as tobacco, or alcohol are permitted. This makes declaring cannabis illegal seem to be arbitrary, and undermines the law's moral force. This might make you think that using it is not a 'real crime'. At the end of the day you have to make up your own mind about whether you want to risk (a) your health (b) your criminal status by using the substance. The perceived risks involved (of becoming mentally ill, or becoming a convicted criminal) weighed against the perceived benefits might influence your choice.
no, the crime is the goverement a**holes who search until they find plants and have them ripped out by the roots when people use them for various health issues.
Unfortunately yes according to the eyes of the law. I too am a "criminal" as I use for medicinal and religious reasons.
If it's a prohibited substance where you live then yes it's a crime regardless of how you feel about it personally.
It is illegal and therefor you are committing a crime.
The netherlands has very few drug laws, and they have the fewest number of hard drug addicts in Europe, and the most hard drug addicts in rehab in Europe. Cannabis doesnt have to be taken with tobbaco, and although it has carinogens in it that can cause cancer, the THC means that altogether smoking grass (obviously tobacco does counteract this) means you are thirty percent LESS likely to get cancer, as THC kills weak (eg cancerous) cells only.

Noone has ever died of cannabis overdose, and it doesnt affect intelligence in the long term. THC does mean that brain damage is (slightly) more likely, but cannabis also has CBD in it, which is better at preventing brain damage than most perscription drugs, so if cannabis was legal strains could be made that actually reduce the chance of brain damage. Cannabis is the third least addictive of all recreational drugs.

Also the argument about stronger cannabis being available is poor - just like vodka being up to 12 times stronger than beer you just drink less of it. tobbaco (should be class B if system was done properly) and alcohol should be class A if system was done properly) are both much more dangerous than cannabis, but the government makes money off them.

Prohibition simply makes more crime, and makes otherwise law abiding citizens mistrust authority.
