Will you accept my challenge?
I've seen alot of people on here that say we have not lost any rights under the Bush administration. Prove it to me. Stand on the side of the road during a presidential parade holding an anti-bush sign, or an anti war sign. Nothing mean, you don't have to shout or say anything, just hold the sign in plain sight. I guarantee someone will come up to you and tell you you have to move to a "free speech zone" If this doesn't happen I'm wrong, if it does happen then at least some of our rights have been taken away,
Remember back in 2000 when the whole country was a free speech zone?
I've personally seen police move protesters, or people with petitions because they weren't in free speech zones.
Call me what you want but if you try this you will see.

I already believe you. Abraham Lincoln filled his *cabinet* with men who didn't agree with him, so that he could make sure all his decisions were as well thought out, as finely tested, as was possible. But our current administration (and I can't say if it was the same under Clinton) only gives speeches to groups that already support him--or certainly don't actively disagree. It's a sad commentary on our country.
Good point.
I wouldn't do a anti-Bush sign because I do not feel that way. My friend was at a Hilary rally and was escorted out and told to leave because she was asking Hilary why she failed to stand for womens rights when Bill was being called out.
I do not deny you might be asked to leave, but it happens on both sides of the fence.
UPDATE
Shamrock, there are free speech zones and they have been around since the 60's. Clinton and Bush have both used them. The White House does not deny that they exist.

Well I can't say that I have ever been at a demostration... but perhaps the police ask you to move away from people who have opposing views in an effort to discourage any violence between the two groups... usually the planners of presidential parades (or any parade for that matter) have paid a great deal of money to reserve that portion of public property for their organization's use... and because it is their parade, not yours, they have the right to ask you not to interfere and create a potentially dangerous situation for them and the other memebers of their organization... really, if being asked to move by the police during a parade in order to avoid starting a riot is the only freedom we have lost then you have got your panties in a twist for a pretty insignificant problem...

Anti-war protesters arrested outside Clinton's office
WASHINGTON (CNN) -- U.S. Capitol Police arrested six women from the anti-war group "Code Pink" outside Sen. Hillary Clinton's office Tuesday who were calling on the New York Democrat to adopt a more aggressive anti-Iraq stance.
In addition to the six arrested, nearly 50 other members of the all-women's group stood outside Clinton's office to show their disproval with the Democratic presidential candidates' stances on the war.
"The entire group then entered Clinton's office and effectively wove a web of pink yarn and ribbons to symbolize Clinton's web of lies," a statement from 'Code Pink,' said.
Clinton, who originally voted to authorize the war in 2003, has come out against the proposed troop increase and advocated capping Iraq troop levels at their Jan. 1 levels
The answer is any citizen of the United States has the right to peacefully proceed in a public space unhindered. This means even Bush, like him or not, has the right to proceed down the street without his right to life, liberty, or the pursuit of happiness being violated.
You have every right to an opinion and every right to free speech, you don't have the right to impose your rights to these on someone else in public.
Why dont you hold a sigh of "I Hate Allah" in Middle-East and let us see if you can make it for one day??
i agree we have lost rights and our country is slowly perishing. im actually going to try that out soon because this really provoked a thought in my mind as to whether our country has truly lost the meaning of freedom of speech.
isnt there something about the presidential parade route no longer is public property but that of the government sort of like a martial law kind of thing that anywhere the President is going to be in view of the public, no longer becomes public property but government owned and maintained for the length of the President's stay whether it's 30 seconds or 30 years
