Can you re-claim holiday days if you have a doctors note for when you were on holiday?
If you have booked a holiday and then something happens and you get a doctors note to be off work for longer than your holiday but it also covers some of the days you were on holiday can you then re-claim those days back as holiday? If anyone knows any websites with more information on this it would be a great help to have that as back up!
Answers:
Usually not. Once the holiday days are gone (spent) you usually can't get them back. Now if you had called as soon as you got sick and went to the doctor, and told your boss that you were supposed to be on holiday but were sick at the doc instead, then he probably would have changed it to sick days for you. But now it's probably too late to change it, even if you have a note. Nevertheless, it can't hurt to ask. All he can do is say no, and he may give you some extra administrative time off to make up for it if he likes you.
you should be allowed to. these rules are made up by each individual company so there would be no general info. talk to your HR department
What does your company policy say? Many are moving to the PTO system.
this is called stealing from the company.
Very doubtful. Company Holidays are normally separate from personal days/vacation days unless specified by the Company that they are interchangeable.
no.
That would depend on the work place agreement. You will still be paid if it was paid time off, but most likely you lost that time for this year. IT IS UP TO THE LABOR AGREEMENT YOUR UNION HAS WITH YOUR BOSS or your bosses good will! I think you lost out, but it does not hurt to ask.
