How old do you have to be to legally move out of your parents home?
my aunt moved out of her parents house when she was 16 (she lives in Texas) does anyone know if it is still legal to do that? She bought her own apartment, finished high school, put herself through college, and is now running a sucessful bussiness.
Answer:
The normal age is 18, unless you petition the courts to become what is called a person of majority. The Judge will decide if you are mature enough to be on your own and have the finances to do so.
18
Different ages in different states..
Parents permission also makes a difference..
Typically, it's 18, but you can file for emancipation, so that you are legally considered an adult. If you're 16, and you have a decent reason for wanting to move out, then I'd say you have a decent shot.
18 but hell if you can make it early do it but remeber when you move you never wanna go back then your parents know you really depend on them...
Sixteen
You have to be 18, if you are 16 and have a job and can prove to a court that you can care for yourself you can file for emancipation. Otherwise if you just move out, it is considered truancy.
