Change of Name Order- Need Legal Answers?
I have submitted a petition for a name change with the circuit court. I live in Buchanan County, Missouri and need to know how long the Public Notice needs to run in the local paper. The court has never done a change of name and has no idea. HELP!

Hello Rule #95 of the Rules of Civil Procedure applies to name changes in the state of Missouri.
95.05. Publication of Notice of Change of Name
When a change of name is granted notice of the change shall be published at least once each week for three consecutive weeks in a newspaper of general circulation published in the county where the change of name was granted. If there is no such newspaper, then the publication shall be in a newspaper designated by the court. Proof of the publication shall be filed with the clerk within ten days after the date of last publication.
Please note that PROOF of the publication of the name change will be required to be filed with the clerk. I don't know what that would entail in your case. In Saint Louis County there is the court "newspaper" _The Courtian_ and in Saint Louis City there is _The Saint Louis Daily Record_ these mail certified notices to the person who placed the ads and who then turns it over to the clerk.
legal notices have to run for a minimum of 1 day.
