Outstanding lawyer bill?

I have outstanding lawyer bills and cannot afford to pay them what action can this lawyer take against me in Minnesota and if he does anything can i claim bankruptcy on it?

Answers:
The lawyer can sue you. Some legal bills can be bankrupted, other cannot. The irony is that even bankruptcy requires you to pay some lawyer for his work.

Why not at least make the effort the others have urged to see if you can work something out? Nothing ventured, nothing gained, as they say.

If you do not pay he might sue you.
Why not try to work out a payment plan with him?
They can go pretty low in monthly payments if you work with them, I'm sure you can manage $50 a month or something.

If you really can't I would still try to work something out, maybe a delayed promissory note that you can pay in the future, or work out some other way, because he can sue you for it, and if he wins, he can take your property -- including putting a lien on any property you might get in the future.
