What kind of penalties does drawing a knife in massachusettes entail. in self defense situation?

Some teenagers were causing problems with me because they think I stole their stuff, they didn't believe me, and when I walked away the started to follow and threaten me. I pulled out a knife, then put it away and walked away again. I was later pulled over and questioned by the police, with no knife with me.

What kind of penalties would this incident entail if I was prosecuted for the incident?

Answers:
you have to be in fear of your life and if the other person has a weapon the you can claim self defense. if you have the weapon and the other person only batters you with fist a cuff them you will most certainly be charged. a weapon is a weapon. battry with a deadly weapon usally will get you 6 months to life depending on if you kill the person.

If it's self-defense, I would think none. But being Massachusetts, you are probably seen as being worse than the perpetrators by carrying a knife. Bceause carrying a knife is --- HATEFUL!

well, i honestly do not know...because i live in California...But in Massachusetts you may want to just get a "consultation": with a defense attorney...no fee for that usually, but always ASK>>>>> I DOUBT IT IF YOU WOULD get anything in CA...but the best of luck to you...It was probably a friend of his...later the truth does come out...just remain CALM AND SAY...CALM LY THAT IS FALSE...And walk away...
it's a tough case but you must try to tell the cops that they were threatening you and that you did it in self defense.(don't say a word to the cops unless you have a parent or a lawyer there because they record everything you say and you don't want to get caught saying something you did not mean to say)
Do you have witnesses that see it your way?

Get statements of any witnesses. If its your word against the 4 of them.

You have documentation from the questioning from the police that you did not have a knife. If this is the only proof you have use it. Do not speak to the police more on this issue without an attorney present.

Give only your name address facts and respectfully request an attorney be present if their are any other questions.
