Pro bono request?

How should I go about submitting letters to attys offices asking them to take a case(not criminal) pro bono? My husband and I need help in locating a child that was illegaly placed for adoption& we don't have much $ to devote to the cause but really want to pursue it. I know some attys will if they think the case has merit. What should my letters include? Has anyone else gotten an atty to take on a case for them and if so, what where your obligations? do you feel they worked as hard for you as they would if they were gettn paid? Did you end up with a favorable outcome?

Answers:
Call a law school near you and ask if they provide students supervised by professors licensed to practice law, to work on pro bono matters.
