Michael vick treated badly part 2?
i got an overwhelming response after my assertion that michael vick was being unfairly lambasted in the media. most of you felt he was a vicisous, sadistic criminal who should never see the light of day. you said (and yes i'm generalizing and paraphrasing the 25 responses into a concensus of words and setiment) race has nothing to do with it,. fame does.there was even an obsurd comparison to the duke lacrosse scandal. most of you missed the point and reacted emotionally. 1) i said i believe he was guilty and should be punished 2) yes i' ve been a dog owner my whole life 3) i don" t believe killing a dog is as bad as killing a human, many of you inferred that it is the same thing. 4) there has been a history of dog fighting that has never gotten the outrage and scrutiny until the association with michael vick 5) the media have helped fuel this whole bad incident into a michael vick feeding frenzy (this is what everyone ignores or omits)
Answers:
innocent until proven guilty
The courts will decide his guilt, and if he is, I hope he gets the max, because that is reprehensible.
I don't care if hes guilty or not hes still a savage ..
the bottom line:
there is overwhelming evidence that he took part and owned the land were dogs were fighting and being tortured through incredibly brutal ways to kill them.
this coward should serve a life sentence for what he did and supported . Surely no one is naive enough to think he is innocent after reading the evidence
WRONG! It is called actually LOOKING at the facts.
Facts: There was a dog fighting ring being conducted on HIS property. Complete with ALL the "stuff" that goes along with dog fighting and dogs that were half alive. Even if he WASN'T part of it, he should have STOPPED because it is part of his duty as a landowner. PERIOD!
The media isn't doing any of this. The media told us what Vick is accused of, and we make our own decision. Also this isn't any different than any other high profile cases. Every time the majority of America beleives that the defendant is guilty before the trial. OJ, Michael Jackson, Scott Peterson, Duke Lacross scandal, or Kobe Bryant. In all those cases the majority of people thought they were guilty, only one of those people were found guilty. And people still think OJ is guilty.
I think he is guilty, and I think he is scum, and I think his career is over, and it should be.
he should be treated like the dogs he treated cause he's a pig
You got such an overwhelming reaction, because YES the media has continually broadcasted the horrific crimes and photos as well as the story. Anyone guilty of these crimes should absolutely be punished, killing of any kind is insane and cruel. The victims for the media broadcast - all of us - Michael Vick is clearly not being mistreated if he participated in any way. The stress on hearing the repeated details, the feelings of sorrow for the innocent animals as we cuddle ours tighter all inflicted on all of us innocent victims of the actions of MICHAEL VICK and others like him that practice deviant behaviors and the media that we've encouraged over the years to sensationalize in the quest to be the best - those same deviant crimes - a fraction for information purposes and the majority for RATINGS! So, can we really blame the media - no, we turn on the television, we buy the papers, we tune in to the horror that they report and we, just as they do, repeat it over and over and over.
animals had rights before blacks... I don't believe in hurting anything that God has created but I don't think people should recieve the same punishment for killing an animal that they should for killing an animal.
To "4) there has been a history of dog fighting that has never gotten the outrage and scrutiny until the association with michael vick"...thats true there probably hasn't been public outrage over it before, but there should have been. I am not talking emotionally, I am talking realistically. NO animal should be forced into hurting another animal just for monetary gain or for entertainment. (I also don't like hunting for fun, bullriding or horseracing, or any of the numerous horrible things we humans do to animals).
