Anyone familiar with insurance laws in connecticut?

i'm being sued by a hospiatl in ct who were sent some blood samples of mine to be tested from another hospital. the hospital that tested my blood doesn't take my insurance without first recieving authorization from my insurance company. when they recieved the bill, my insurance company declined it cause' they said that the hospiatal failed the comply with first obtaining authorization and I am not responsible either due to the hospital's mistake. A paralegal friend of mine said that I can't be held responsible regardless because I recieve husky A insurance which is an insurance granted by the state to low oncome families and the state supposedly protects us from being sued for medical bills yet I can't find any statutes that can verify that. $1,500.00 is a lot to me and my family and I can't afford a lawyer to defend me. I've recieved papers in the mail stating that the hospital is preparing to take me to court. Can anyone give me some useful advice, PLEASE!!

Answers:
How did the insurance company inform you that you were not responsible due to the hospital's mistake? If they sent you a letter, then I would take that letter and any other documentation you have that proves the information above.

Generally, these claims are filed in small claims court. You need to file an answer:
"13. How do I defend against a small claims case?

File an Answer on or before the Answer Date that appears on the Notice of Suit.
-If you disagree with the claim or the amount of money, check the box that says you disagree and explain briefly in writing why you believe you do not owe the money.
-Attach any documents that support your claim.(ATTACH COPIES ONLY) For example, receipts, letters, contracts or leases. Submit sufficient copies for the court and the plaintiffs.
You may also file a motion to transfer to the regular docket. See Practice Book Section 24-21. "
