How long would a 17 going on 18 year old go to jail for truancy?
He stopped going to school so the judge ordered him to get his GED but he didn't get it. How long do you think they would sentence him for that? I need answers from people who actually know what they are talking about. This is serious for me.
Well, the real crime was him not going to school. When he went to court for it, the judge ordered him to withdraw from school and get his GED. He took the classes but he doesn't think that he will pass the test. He goes back to court at the end of August.
His 18th birthday is in September and his court date is in August.
Answers:
First, if he has taken the classes and taken the test he has probably complied with the court order. The judge cannot order him to pass the test, just to take it. If he cannot pass, he cannot pass. It is impossible to say how long he could go to jail because this varies from place to place and even by judge within a given county. He should talk to his lawyer and, if he does not have one, ask for a public defender. As a minor, he is entitled to a public defender at no cost to him.
In England its normally the parents who get arrested for about 6 months but as he will be 18 he will be liable so he would proberly get 6 months or community service but im not entially sure good luck anyway
If he fails to follow the judges order, he could be sent to jail. The judge could order him to remain in jail until he passes the test. That would give him motivation to study hard, and there wouldn't be many distractions for him inside of jail to keep him from passing the test.
This is the least of this person's problems. How does he expect to get a good job?
Without an education, he will eventually be stuck with a low paying job that he will most likely hate. He will only make barely enough to survive and not have money for the things he wants.
Breaking the law for money is not an option either. Sooner or later he will get caught. Ask him if he wants to be Bubba's prison *****.
Without a good job, how is he ever going to settle down and have a family.
Sound's like he is only seeing the shout term and not seeing the big picture.
Unfortunately, it may already be too late. This should have been dealt with 10 or 12 years ago.
