Why won't they legalize marijuana?
wouldn't it be better to tax it and use the money for education rather than letting the crime element have it? prohibition didn't work for alcohol, why does our government think it will work for marijuana? or are they profiting more from it being illegal rather than legal? should pot smokers be put in jail with murderers and rapist?

They won't legalize it because they don't know how to tax it and also for the political aspects of it. I don't think pot is bad! I think alcohol is bad. God made pot, man made alcohol. I trust and love God more than man. That's my opinion!
The legalization of marijuana is a stepping stone to the legalization of other harmful drugs. We can't allow this precedence in our nation. I don't think pot smokers should be put in jail with murderers and rapist but I do believe the ilk that pushes it should be. Just because a problem is hard for a society to handle does not mean that said society should lower it's standards to conform to a lower standard of morality.
excellent question..sorry i don't have an excellent answer.it's been semi-legal in canada for some time and europe as well.it's a religious practice in the caribean and should they legalize it costs would go down and it wouldn't be cut with the crap that's in it now..win-win if you ask me.but what do i know??? and yes the tax revenue could be put to good use as well..plus if it were legal it would take part of the fun out of it :-)
The logistics to control it as well as the taxation is the biggest problem. Medicinal Marijuana is legal but only in certain states.
A double edge sword is what we are dealing with here. Do some research on the so called, "Drug Stamp," and you will really be surprised.
Because prohibition didn't work for alcohol look what legalizing alcohol has done. An average annual death rate that is somewhere near 30,000. Auto accidents and violence.
Legalizing marijuana is not in the best interest of society. The potential for abuse exist in job situations, such as cab drivers, crane operators, hospital settings, machine shops. All those examples are situations where people are not suppose to drink alcohol and yet it has been done.
The knee jerk response to tax it for education is poor. If caught a fine should be given but charge the person with a misdemeanor, not thrown in jail.
Marijuana is bad. Don't legalize it by collecting taxes.
