What does the term "prison hold" mean in law enforcement?

I looked up the status of a friend of mine who was sentenced on Thursday to State Prison for 14 months. The prisoner information page on my friend says they are on "prison hold". Does anyone know if they'll move my friend to an actual state prison, or will he stay where he was booked at? This is in the state of California. Thanks.

Answers:
It means that he's awaiting transfer to prison. County jails usually don't transport inmates to the prisons. There are California State Prison busses that make the rounds picking up inmates. He could be taken in a couple of days..or a couple of weeks.
I think that means he will be sent to a prison, and that he is in the holding section for that move.
