Child Support Question?
I just sent in the child support forms. How long till after they recieve them to I have to wait to recieve support? Do I have to go to court?
Answers:
Yes, you will have to go to court.
Also, go to that place again and ask them what forms you need to fill out to get the emergency hearing as soon as possible. Explain that it is a hardship situation and your child needs support as soon as possible. This way they will set up the court day for you as soon as possible and do the emergency order for child support. Later, you will have to come for the regular hearing where the regular child support amount will be decided.
If you leave things the way they are now, it probably will be at least two months before your first court day.
it really depends on your state..I lived in Virginia and moved to Tennessee and their laws are completely different..my daughter went through the process..Good Luck
could be a few weeks, months or years. Depends on how long it takes to process your application, locate the person that is required to pay, process a garnishee if necessary.
Don't depend on getting this money soon. It can be a LONG drawn out process.
it depends on where you live and the circumstances .it can be a month or it can be a long long time...good luck
the right to child support should be based on why the parents split up.If the man leaves or is a pr_ck.then child support should be started as soon as possible.on the other hand if the woman is a bioch and just leaves the relationship cause of no good reason then they should have no right asking for child support.this can be flipped if the child stays with the father.if the breakup is mutual then there should be no need for child support cause both parents should have equal rights and equal time with the child.
You might have to go to court. Just depends on how the system is there where you live. Here in Tennessee once they get the papers they will send you a letter telling you what other info you might need and when your court date is. But the bad thing is that the juvenile system is so backed up here that it might take 6 mths. But that doesnt mean that is how it is there. So just be patient. If he has never paid child support before then he will have to pay from the time the child was born. And until it is all paid then and only then will the child support stop. That means that the child could even be older then 18, just depends on how far behind he is. Hey im very proud of you for doing this. I hate dead beat fathers who dont take care of their kids.
