Jury or judge?

hey, does anyone know the precentage of pedifiles found guilty by jury as aposed to the percentage found guilty by judge?

Answers:
rotorhead...i think your head is warped...there are strategic reasons to choose a jury or waiving your right to a jury trial...such as in the case of horrific crimes, where people may be swayed by the crime and not the evidence...a judge will tend to be less emotional and more about the law and what tangible evidence is or is not present

as for the pedofile that is trying to figure out his trial strategy, i think in your case its a 50/50 split...maybe you can hope to get a fellow pedofile on your jury who will not vote to convict or you can hope that a judge will purel look at the evidence and use no emotion

Anyone who turns down a jury trial and opts for a judge needs his head examined. With a Judge, you have to convince him. With a jury, you only have to get one out of 12 laymen on your side. Better odds by far.
You're talking about the difference between a jury trial and a bench trial -- and the statisics would depend on the jurisdiction.

Also, pedophilia is not itself a crime -- child molestation is a crime. Pedophilia just means finding children sexually attractive.

By the phrasing your question, a pedophile who was convicted of tax evasion would need to be counted in your statistics, even though the crime he committed had nothing to do with child molestation.
