Marijuana Users in their 20's: Would you quit if you had a child??

I don't think there is anything wrong with Marijuana other than the fact that it is illegal. Marijuana wasn't even made illegal because of the drug, it was made illegal during slavery (from what I have heard) when african americans smoked it... and was never legalized after they were given equal rights.

This question is for those who SMOKE Marijuana and lead good lives. When you have a child to plan on quitting?? If so, why? And if not, how would you raise your child to view Marijuana? Would you carry it on you during a one week vacation with your family?? Would you carry it in your car while driving your child??

Would your habits change in anyway?

Pot's been around since the time of slavery, but wasn't made illegal until 1937 when Harry Anslinger used racial prejudice against blacks and hispanics to justify outlawing its use. The plant was seen as a threat to big corporations that produced paper, plastics and textiles. Hemp can be used to make them all. Jack Herer's book, "The Emporer Has No Clothes" is available online for your reading pleasure. It gives the history of cannabis in this country.

I quit smoking when I was pregnant and the kids are now grown and gone. I've been a fairly regular user for almost 40 years. I don't drink alcohol. I have a good job, live a good life, and will celebrate 28 years with my husband this year.

I raised my kids to respect marijuana, and I made them aware of the truth when the DARE program fed them the typical propaganda. Neither of them choose to smoke, and that is fine by me. They know I use it, and have found that it does not make me less of a person or parent for doing so. They are able to recognise the difference between use of a substance and abuse.

As for carrying it on vacation or just in a car with the kids, yes, I've been guilty on both counts. I've never been busted, never been pulled over for traffic violations while driving, perhaps due to the fact that I follow one rule: only break one law at a time.

I enjoy smoking like many people enjoy a drink and find far less harm in marijuana. I agree that the only thing wrong with it is the fact that it's illegal. So no, I would not change my habits, have not changed them in fact. I love my family, my kids, my life and my smoke. I wouldn't have it any other way.

a woman should quit while she's having her baby for sure
wow..I don't care what anyone thinks of marijuana but the bottom line is...it's an illegal drug. If you have children and you are smoking pot or driving your car with it (under the influence or not), your child can be taken away from you. Is it really worth it...and do you know for certain that there are no ill effects to a child in the womb from smoking pot...don't think you can answer that in the affirmative. So, do what you want if you don't have or plan to have children..but shame on you if you do!
I have a 2 1/2 yr old daughter and i smoke pot for my epilepsy as a medicine the way it is ment to be used.I'm also native and our people have been using pot for hundreds of years as a med.i'm going to teach this view to my daughter and hope she respects it though i'd rather see her abuse weed before alcohol. No one has ever OD'd on pot in recorded history the reason it's illegal is because the government can't figure a way to profit from it the way they do alcohol.
I dont do drugs. Yet I dont think it should be illegal. I think they should tax it. That would get rid of drug dealers. Make the DUI and DWI laws stronger and with more consequences. I do think if you have children you need to set the best example and legal or illegal drugs or alcohol when you have children you have to become an adult and that should be something that is not around your kids growing up.
Here comes reality to bite you in the ***! I am a 40 yr old male who many people rumored to smoke in my 20's. While I could care less about that I did become a father in 89. I have tried to the best of my ability to keep any drugs away from my baby, there are drugfuc#ers out there who think that it's no big deal. No child should be subjected to this stuff. On any vacation you would be a damned fool to travel with dope in your car or on your person. You risk losing everything. FAMILY ESPECIALLY!! You are a liar and a fool to think you can't live without that sh@t. Why woul;d any parent put their kids at risk af of foster homes(we all know how well they raise kids). If we meet in the street please tell me your opinions on the matter so I will know when I have taught you what ignorant views you have on the subject. Doing drugs is one thing doing it with no regard to who you hurt by it is another. When I was arreste I had my parental rights revoked (but still must pay support), my visits supervised, my daughter knows nothing of why, she thinks I hate her, I am an adamant asshole when it comes top the kids. SO IT IS IN YOUR BEST INTEREST TO LISTEN WHEN I CHOOSE TO SPEAK OF IT!! I've done everything the courts asked of me and then some, yet when my ex lost them for the same stuff I wasn't even contacted. My atty charged me $3000 for a case he said he could win but apparently that money won't even buy a set of balls at Wal-Mart. Do not jeopardize your kids!!!
In one of your recent questions you were the one saying that the state was ripping you off when medicaid wasn't paying every single one of your medical bills for having a baby. Now, you have the audacity to ask if it's ok for you to smoke weed?!! What is wrong with you!! You don't have money enough to pay for health insurance, but you have plenty for weed?!! You've got to be freakin kidding me! People like you shouldn't be allowed to reproduce!
