A prisoner's death certificate?
This may not be the right forum to place this in but here goes: If a person dies in prison of a health issue would the death certificate still say natural causes or if the person was *shanked*, would the DC read murder? Since i am told they basically toss the body into an incinerator, i began to wonder if they would bother being particular on the death certificate. Thanks.
Answers:
Where I live a death certificate does not state a cause of death, just the date of death. An autopsy report would indicate the cause of death.
Also, where I live, death certificates are public information, so for a small fee, you can find out.
death certificate would list cause as knife wound, not as "murder" murder is a legal term not a medical term.
I am from Illinois and the death certificate does include the reason of death. If the prisoner was 'shanked' there would be an inquest held and the result would be homicide. If the deceased prisoner has family/next of kin, they can claim the body.
