Somebody posted a website link to child porn on a site I frequent?
They posted the link in hopes that people report it and said they cried when they viewed it. I clicked the link without knowing what it was. Of course I immediately shut down the page without viewing/or further investigating the site. I am now worried that my IP address will go on a list of child porn viewers!
Answers:
You need to report this to the authorities.
People who witness a crime and do not report it, can be charged as accessories. Those who report it promptly, can use copy of their reporting in their defense if improperly charged later.
Where do you report it?
* Your local police, district attorney
ASACP = Association of Sites Advocating Child Protection ... people who travel the Internet can report suspicious sites to them. They investigate the hosting, billing, IP address, ownership, and linkage of suspected child porn sites, then report to relevant government agencies, including FBI or relevant authorities in other nations, Center for Missing and Exploited Children

If you know who posted the link to the porn site, you might also post link to here, informing of responsible thing to do, since apparently they lacked that kind of education.
First, report the link! Do a screen shot so that they can see the context in which you came across the link. Report why you were at the site, and why you decided to follow the link.
One time, if you report, isn't a big deal. If you don't report and it is found later, it can cast suspicion, but like I said, one time should not be a big deal.
No matter what, report it to the police. If we all do what we can to get this filth and perv. off the net, we can reclaim it.
Yes, your IP address probably will. I suggest that you call the local cops. They will direct you in how to report this incident. Making a report will help to protect you.
