What causes a child molester to go back and reassault his victim when she is an adult?

I asked my professor this and she said she had never heard of this happening because usually the offender loses attraction once the child is post puberty-my mother however was raped by my grandfather when she was 36. Can I have resources too?

Answers:
I cannot speak to this except to speculate.

Child molesters are sick and have desires for children they certainly should not have. Rapists have issues with anger and hatred, combined with otherwise inappropriate desires.

Unfortunately, your grandfather had both sets of sicknesses and let them control his behavior. That led for him to hurt your mother horribly in ways I cannot fathom.

I wish I could provide a better answer than that. I wish even more strongly that this had never happened.

First of all child molesters are the lowest scum on earth, even below terrorists and that is bad. But I' m not sure anyone can figure these b********* out. If I could be the judge they wouldn't get the second chance, and I'd leave them in general population with special colors on.
I think your professor is right in the fact that when he raped her at 36, it was just that a rape and disgusting at that. He must have had some kind of sick attraction to her. Do you know if there were others that were molested? Gosh I feel bad for you mom. I wish the best for her.
