Should Kirklees Council be prosecuted for allowing their so?
called officers, who obviously were not trained properley, these people should also be jailed. Kirklees are supposed to be a role model council in child protection. I don't think they know what the word means. The child was in their area in their care.
They let her Die what do you think?

It would help if you gave us a clue as to what it is you are talking about
I do believe that the council officers who investigated the family, and closed the file on the case should be put before a criminal court for allowing a child to be treated in this way.
Given that the neighbours had complained about the child, they have to be regarded as failing her absolutely.
The council administration should also be taken to task for failing to provide an adequate level of supervision, possibly facing dismissal, but the officers should be the ones going to jail.
I assume you are talking about the little girl of 4 who died at the hands of her mother and her boyfriend?
Was the little girl in the councils care...I thought she lived with her mother.
Where was her paternal fathers input?
What about the grandparents?
What about the neighbours?
What about..I could go on and on with people who were connected to this poor unfortunate child.
Its the easiest thing in the world to vent your feelings about the inadequacies of the 'systems' supposedly in place to protect the most vulnerable in society. But, every person who had ANY contact with the little girl has to bear some of the responsibility of not giving her adequate protection from these monsters.
Many people will have suspected and some will have known of the abuse she suffered, and waited for someone else to inform the authorities.
The people who were in charge of her let her die we can't keep attaching blame to everyone else.
The criminals are behind bars, and the authorities will learn a sharp lesson. Sadly, these offences keep happening.
Ahhh the thumbs down because I don't agree with the rant...I do agree...but I also have the mental capacity to see that in this wonderful blame culture people are very quick to look at one side of the story but not examine what happened overall.
Yes there were shortcomings on the part of Social Services and all the other departments dealing with this case. But ultimately, the childs mother and boyfriend murdered her NOT a social worker.
Oh...and no I am not a social worker nor do I work for
Kirklees.
Oh I see the lovely thumbs down...based no doubt on the dimwit response that 'if you don't agree with me...I'm throwing my teddy from the pram!'
Why do people pose questions and not accept that some people would have a more reasoned opinion?
It is just another ghastly example of a tragic poor little girl being horrendously treated by her parent and her psycho boyfriend. Social services in Norfolk took children away from a good and loving home and got them adopted because they accused the parents of being incapable of looking after their children. Kirklees just failed to do their job properly and another child died as a result. Of course we shall hear all the usual platitudes saying that this must never happen again and that lessons must be learnt. It will happen again and lessons are never learnt. The social workers responsible should be prosecuted for their ineptitude. As you read this a child somewhere is crying out for help and is not being heard.
It appears that social workers are Teflon coated whenever anything they were supposedly responsible for goes wrong. No matter how often senior judges castigate them they always escape any punishment except maybe a suspension for a couple of weeks or sent for a retrain.
