Crooked cops?

if a police officer was to commit a crime that abused his power, examples: accepting a bribe or not turning in seized narcotic\weapons, what should the consequence be?

should the criminal charges be more severe or less severe than in a civilian case?

should the maximum sentence in criminal charges be the mandatory sentence in their cases?

(yes i know their are abuse of power type charges as well)

Answer:
They should be punished more severely to an extent because of the betrayal of the trust they were given. This does not apply only to cops though, I am a nurse and crimes involving nurses such as stealing drugs, or sexually abusing patients also should be treated differently because of their position. Just my opinion

Same, and enforced
should lose there badge and go to jail...suppose to enforce the law for crying out loud, not break it.
Crooked cops have crooked smiles, stay away. They will attack in your manifest.
i dont know, but i hate cops
