Should euthanasia be made legal in UK.?
after watching my mother suffer a long slow degrading painful death it should be.
Answers:
I believe that if a person is suffering, they should have the right to end their own life...
i think in certain circumstances yes. sorry about your mother
It already is, when my aged father was seriously ill in hospital I was asked if they should revive him if he took a bad turn. I said no as he was suffering and they let him die. Don't get me wrong, he had no quality of life and it would have been only prolonging the inevitable if they had intervened, he would have lingered in agony.
condolences. A big yes
Sorry to hear about the severity of your Mum's passing.
Yes. Everything that you do to your body is your personal decision while you are alive and healthy. You may abuse it with tobacco, alcohol or proscribed drugs, or throw it downhill on two flimsy sticks, or jump out of perfectly safe aeroplanes and trust its preservation to a flimsy piece of silk. How and when Life is removed from it should also be your own choice.
I wish HMG would look into this properly, ignoring the religious standpoint, and treat the matter just as simply as car insurance. If you drive you are legally required to have insurance. Once you attain age 18 you should be legally required to make a living Will instructing those who might be responsible for your care in a terminal situation. That document to be held in three copies - one by you in the form of a card stating where the second - more detailed - copy could be located, ideally with your GP. The third copy to be held by the Registrar of Births, Marriages and Deaths. Prior to age 18, the decision should rest with parents or legal guardian and the preference of one over the other to continue medical treatment should take precedence.
The religious standpoint should be a matter between the Will carrier and the priest of his choosing if he believes that a priest should play a part in his decision.
It should be.
One has no control over life and sometimes i believe it can be worse than the peace of death regardless if your religious or not.
I believe that there should be a form on medical records that a doctor can fill out given the situation one would be suitable for death. If 3 of these forms are completed, the family members and the person involved of course should give consent and let the person rest.
It is one thing to be humane but another to watch a loved one in severe agony as a shadow of their former self just to wait for the clock to run out every second of every day. I vote to skip the pain to the end result.
My greatest respects for your family and yourself at this time.
yes if any of my family or close friends needed any help to die i would help them.i have seen people die in pain and its not good to see.
it should be. as painful as it is for everyone, it would still be better for the person suffering so they don't have a painful ending.
sorry about your mother.
