Would you stay? (Ethically)?
I work in a nursing home, and paychecks have bounced.
Now remember I take of parents/grandparents and some one has to in reality.
But I have kids, family, and bills.
The reponsibility of this is alot either way.
What are the options of the employees?
What would you do?
Answers:
1. Talk with the employer ... is this a temporary problem in which they are real sorry and will fix it right away?
2. You have to weigh your responsibilities
* your financial need where another job may be needed
* your obligation to fellow human beings in trouble
You have a greater obligation to family..
I would call the department of health immediately. What about the utilities and the other services these people need. This is way bigger than you right now, these people need help and help NOW.
Make them pay you in cash or threaten to walk. Unless you can afford to work for free, you need to take a stand.
you and your coworkers should all get together and threaten to collectively walk out without immediate payment.
you and i both know that the administrators and executives are still getting paid and that the home is still making money.
so why cant they pay you?
unacceptable. period.
If you work in a nursing home and your paycheck bounces, you need to contact the labor board in your state. You need to also contact the licensing agency such as JACHO or your state's department of licensing and see if they can investigate the matter. As much as they charge for patient care in nursing homes (around $3500 -$4000 a month or more for private pay), you would think they could pay their staff with a good check. This is an outrage!
you got to do what you got to do trill death you have bill and tax move on to a new job
Get a job at a bank. Checks never bounce.
