Are there really as many surprises in a trial as there are in the movies?

or is pretty much everything that is discussed in a trial gone over in the depositions.

Answers:
There's often surprises; most are small non-dramatic ones, but even small ones may be enough to determine the outcome of a case: Witnesses forget a fact or remember a new one; someone misplaces a document; people get lost on the way to the courthouse; two co-defendants in a multi-party case settle between themselves at the last minute; a judge rules contrary to an expectation; etc.

Yes... sometimes. But it usually isn't as exciting as it appears on TV, as council on both sides must be notified in timely fashion of all new evidence the other side finds.
Nope. Most trials are very boring, and pretty short. There is rarely any forensic evidence of note. Generally they are resolved through confessions or accounts of witnesses. Lawyers, cops and scientists don't have the kind of time to devote to most cases as tv or movies would indicate.
Hello,
Reality check here. It is a movie, not real life. You are free to suspend me for the two hour period while you watch the movie.

Thank you.
