Why was FEMA ice follies not publicized more?
Approximately 85 million pounds of ice were stored at various locations, including on refrigerated trucks since Katrina until FEMA decided to pay 3.5 million to have the ice melted and the bags disposed of this month. Cost for storage was 20 million. FEMA said they were saving it for next hurricane. These figures do not include the cost of the ice. Total seems to be around 67 million.

The Government was criticized initially for a lack of response... Since the Mayor of New Orleans and the Governor of Louisiana was pushing the blame, the president ordered anything and everything for a quick response, mainly to save face. We can all agree that some took advantage of the while others were in dire need.
There are plenty of other issues relating to post Katrina that of course cost the taxpayers billions. The ice capade was a simple ploy by the Democrats to try and accuse the President and his cabinet of negligent spending.
The real issue should be all of the money that we continue to pay for four star hotels occupied by some of the victims that refuse to go to work and or find a reasonable place to live.
They were publicized in the states that NEEDED that ice and went without! First it was Florida. When we were hit by three hurricanes within a month I think the ice was in Missouri (Or was it the trailers?). Then later when the Katrina victims needed the ice they were still there for a while.
The problem is an Incompetent administration putting incompetent people in charge as political payback for campaign contributions!
Want another ice story? This one is funny! :)
