How to stop an eviction?

My inlaws are in a gov't subsidized ederly apartment in CT and they have gotten an eviction notice for not compling with the rental agreement (the rent is paid up)
they have let their ex- convict grandson stay with them on occasion(we have told them not to do that, but they say its cold outside where is going to sleep?)(we told them it is better to have one person homeless than 3 people)we have yelled at them often about this...

the final straw was that he was convicted again and his name was in the newspaper with his address as the senior housing.
but he has not been in the senior housing in three months and they got the re=hab place to fax over a letter saying that he has been in rehab for 3 months.
but the super for the building does not care and they have to move

is there anything we can do to forestall this

Answers:
Don't they have an appeals process in their lease?
Otherwise, they should find a way to go to court and fight this.
The Manager or whatever he is, should have talked to them first to see what was going on and the convict should have never given your inlaws address as his own if he had even a smatter of respect for them.
What the Hell!
They and the building owner don't need that kind of reputation!

Nope. Your in-laws broke the law and now they must pay for it. I'd kick them out, too. It doesn't matter if he wasn't there recently. He WAS LIVING THERE on occasion. And that's totally, 100% against the law.

People like your in-laws are precisely why government subsidized housing turns to slums. Freeloaders let in criminals, ex-boyfriend, druggies, etc and it all goes to hell.
Those rules are there for the safety of all residents. If they don't enforce the rule about no convicts living there, the complex would fill up with them. Sounds like you gave them fair warning, some people have to learn the hard way.
I understand compassion, but your in laws willing broke the rules, and now they have to pay for there mistakes. It is sad.
