Each state has its own requirements, but being an attorney in most states requires passing a moral character determination. Any felony is an almost guaranteed failure, and most other crimes would also be reasons to prohibit licensure.
Yes, I like being an attorney. But it's not an easy profession. Trying to explain to people why the law is the way it is can often be very frustrating, as can advocating for the rule of law when the law in question might be unpopular.
