Why does the media keep trying to make us feel guilty for things rich people did in our historical past?

Us plebs didn't even have the vote then so had no say.

Answers:
the media sells based on emotive subjects, it doesnt matter whether that emotion is negative, positive, valid or unjustified, the fact that people get worked up or down or discuss it in the pub, sells news and so they work on that basis. with regards to things like the slave trade, people tend to either feel guilty, angry or angry that we should feel guilty, either way it is emotive, so it sells

Huh?

What specifically are you talking about?
In my case, I'm from Germany. I was born in 1970! I never knew Hitler! I ain't no Nazi! People don't seem to get that.
I don't feel one bit guilty about what people did years ago.
Are you sure you don`t have something to feel guilty about? because the media don`t make me feel guilty when i have done nothing wrong.
