California driving requirements?

I live in cali and i wanted to know:

What is THE YOUNGEST age at which a person can start trying to get a permit or whatever its called?

What is that thing called, and what can i do if i get it?

Answers:
If you are under 18 and at least 15 ½ you can apply for a provisional driver license. The first step to getting your license is to get your instruction permit. Because you are under 18, your permit and driver license are called, "Provisional." This means you have additional restrictions placed on your permit and driver license that adults (18 and over) do not have.

You have to be 15 1/2 to get a permit. You can drive with a licensed adult in the car with you.
You can start driving school at 15 but can't actually get your permit until 15 1/2.
you have to be 15 1/2 but you have to half a linseced adult with you till you get your license
