If the police made it law to have a lie detector?

test before intrvewing susepected killers in the uk,they could put more preasure on them in the intervewing rooms, knowing they have been proven to be lieing, why dont they make it law,and remember me for telling them to do it,the test is 99.9 percent right, why waste millions of pounds in tax payers money, they know they have done it but cant prove it,in most cases, most uk laws need re doing, and we can feel safe on the streets and in your home....

Answers:
I don't know about UK law, but in the US it would be a violation of constitutional rights and in order to be able to overstep those rights legally, the police have to have a just cause for doing so or risk getting sued, fired, etc.

Your idea is a good one. Too bad we can't implement it here.

because that machine measures stress patterns in the voice, which in most cases would indicate you are lying. However most people would be rather stressed if being accused of murder. so it can't be proved that a lie detector is accurate
iam with you on that one
Lie detectors are not 100% accurate.. and the law insists evidence is 100% factual beyond reasonable doubt
Lie detectors are notoriously unreliable. The only people who believe their worth are morons who go on Jeremy Kyle.
The police do not make the laws they are only there to administer the laws which our wonderful politicians dream up
I think individual police officers must get so frustrated at how criminals laugh at their inability to be able to lock them up .
Thankfully the Police do not make laws, they try to enforce them.

A lie detevctor is 100% accurate in detecting stress and therefore stress can be trained out. I would be quite stressed if I was being questioned for something I did not do, so at best it is only an indication
They are not 99.9 percent right, I think you have that mixed up with DNA testing. Lie detector test can be wrong if a person is taking medications, illegal drugs, have heart problem, high blood pressure, breathing problems etc... , so no, they are not correct. Why give law enforcement a tool to railroad someone, when they even know them self, that lie detector test are NOT accurate. Also a person has a right to refuse to take one, at least in the US anyway. Actually they do not prove nothing. Best way to feel safe in street and home is have government to let law obeying citizen bear arms, this way, you have a chance to defend yourself. When guns are outlawed, only criminals will have guns.
Most people are horrid liars to begin with.

Most good detectives can tell when someone is lying to begin with...unless they've trained them self in the art of decepting interrogation.
i fooled a lie detector..that's why im free.

oh dear

lying again!

beep beep
Lie detector evidence is not admissible in court in the United States. People who are pathological liars can often beat the test. Often false results are shown when people are under a lot of stress.

Many police departments in the US use lie detector tests to eliminate suspects so that they can go on pursuing other lines of investigation.
Police are free to use lie detectors as an investigative tool. Modern governments don't allow their use in court, but they are certainly available to police to use as part of an interrogation or investigation.
Lie detectors are nowhere near 99% accurate, and can easily be beaten by employing a few simple techniques.
