In Ohio we have a website ran by the state, you can look up anyone in prison or on probation. It tells what prison they are in, what crime they commited, and how long they will serve. It even gives a picture of the inmate.
I am certain other states have similar websites. Google something like Wisconsin prison search and see what you find. Meanwhile here is the one for Ohio to give you a idea of what im talking about:
call the jail and ask. all it costs is your time. (the jail's phone number is in your phone book)
