Why is it that they made a law that you cant have a sex with minor?

-i think 13 years old is old enough to think, coz i was before
-is it also illegal if i court minor? i mean no sex

The laws have changed because society has changed. About 70 years ago you could not marry a women or girl without proving you were able to support her, that in turn made the male go out and acquire wealth before proposing and getting a fathers blessing. The states began to change the laws based on women's rights and there capability to support themselves. It was always known that girls that married at young ages were not old enough to make these type of decisions, and after they were married they were left with no options. The law usually works by going from one extreme to another, and like most laws could use a little work like creating levels, however your question is about sex with a minor and I would have to disagree with you. 13 is a very impressionable age and not a just a minor but a kid, and that's a big difference. And as far as trying to court one? I will say this, you would be playing fire that could put you in prison.

An adolescent's brain is not totally formed yet, especially in terms of right from wrong.
Because at 13, you can't write a check; how can you make a decision as big as getting pregnant, AIDS, social diseases; much less resist older people who just want to use you and discard you?

13 is too young to hold a job.

It's all legal till you lay a hand on them; or till they scream rape.
I thought that you were serious and I was about to get the police to track you down for being a child molester until I saw your profile.
Yeah I think the law is stupid because in the state of florida when you are 16 you can consent to having sex, but only with someone 16,17 or 18. Then when you are 17, you can consent to having sex with anyone between the ages of 16 and 24. Then when your 18 your age range is 16 to as old as you want. Why do they put an age limit on it, are they saying that a 16 year old is old enough to make a decision about sleeping with someone, but only if that someone is 16-18? I do think however that 13 is too young. 16 is right, but they should limit it to people 16 and older, not just 16-18. Yes, you can get in trouble for dating someone underage. You don't have to be sexually involved with them.
The law was made because minors are more impressionable and may not understand the difference between piece of tail and a life long commitment.
i think if you are an adult and you have sex with someone 14 and under it is automatic life in prison in some states...it could be 12 though..i cant remember. but where i live...they made a law where if you are 2 years age difference over 14...thats fine.. so a 16 year old can have sex with a 14 year old...but not with a 13 yearold...and 17 with 15 but not with 14...and so on up to 16 being the youngest because 16 is the legal age of consent here.so someone that is 22 can have sex with a 16 year old and not worry about a thing.well other than the fact that you had sex with a 16 year old and your friends will make fun of you.
Generally, underage sex laws are made to protect persons who arguably are not sufficiently mature to make decisions of that nature. Many argue that some 17-year old girls are more mature than boys of 21 years. Others argue that if a 17-year old can be tried as an adult for a crime, he/she should be old enough to consent to sex.

The truth is that law makers chose an age when adults should be allowed to have sexual relations with minors. They do not need reasons that make sense to everyone and take into account all contingencies; its the law.

Perhaps in another age, the majority of voters in a state may persuade their legislature to lower the age to 13. But until then, the law is the law.
