In qld. au. what rights have squtters?

How long does a squtter have to stay in an abandoned house to clam ownership in queensland australia ?

Answers:
I think you're referring to adverse possession -- in Queensland, NSW, WA & Tasmania the period of time is 12 years. It has to be uninterrupted, and I think generally you have to use it productively e.g. conduct repairs etc.

The exception to this is when Crown land is involved -- in that case it is 30 years.

p.s. to the guy above, adverse possession exists in most if not all common law jurisdictions including the US.

Oh this is like a joke that writes itself! Do you mean "squatters"? Are you kidding about them staying in an abandoned house to "clam" ownership? Does that really happen in Australia? Interesting!
squatters should be shot!! scumbags... get a bloody job and pay your own way. its too easy for squatters to get into a house and too bloody hard to get them out..
