Subletting problem please help me!?
i rented an apartment on the lease it says i'm not allowed to sublet. I was going back to my hometown and would not return in 2 months.
so i talked to the manager: Can i sublet my apt just for 2 months while i'm out of this country. He said OK so i did it. Today i just got an email from that person he told me the manager accused him of squatting and was kicking him and me out. He said i violates the lease.
I 'm still out of country. this is impossible for me to change my flight...i feel so helpless...i wish i'm there right now to handle this situation...
The manager said OK. I got his permission. Why would he do this to me? will i get my $1000 deposit back? if not, what should i do? please help!!

I hope you got it in writing form the manager before doing the subletting. otherwise your are out an apartment and your deposit.
Not in writting you are out of luck sorry
If you didn't get it in writing then the manager is in the right. As long as there is no damage to the property and the rent is paid he should have no reason to keep your deposit. You may want to contact a local lawyer and have them handle it.
Unfortunately you didn't get the manager to sign something when you made the deal to sublet your apartment for the 2 months. Bad move, never trust a manager in real estate. Always get something in writing. Unfortunately as it is in your lease, even though the manager said yes, you don't have a leg to stand on. He can say that your subtenant is squating and he has the right to throw both of you out. Due to you going against the lease there really isn't anything that you can do, and no, you will not get your deposit back. He will use it as the last month's rent, saying that it took him that long to get the apartment ready to re-rent, whether or not it did or did not, but it is the law, and it is on his side. Why did he do this to you, probably found someone who was willing to pay a lot more for the apartment and realized that it was easy to get you out, without any problems. He had the law on his side, you weren't in town, so he just broke the lease. Getting a lawyer isn't really going to help because it's your word against his. I'm sorry I have to be so abrupt about this, but, I can't sugar coat it it won't do any good.
