Can i use well known character names on T-shirts designs?
I know i wouldnt be able to use images but would i be allowed to use, for example the words "Dennis the menice" or "my little pony" on T shirts to sell or would copyright laws prevent this? Also if i was to draw and use, for example my own my little pony design would this be legal as i would just be using a likeness not an actual character? Hope someone can help! thanks!

IT'S CALLED TRADEMARK INFRINGEMENT. IF THE ATTORNEYS FOR THE LOGO THAT YOU INTEND TO COPY GET WIND OF YOUR OPERATION THEY WILL SEND YOU A CEASE AND DESIST LETTER. WHICH WILL BE THE FIRST STEP BEFORE A LAW SUIT IF YOU CONTINUE AFTER THAT.
YOU CAN OF COURSE PAY THE PATENT HOLDERS OR THE INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY OWNERS THE FEE THAT THEIR REQUIRE FOR REPLICATING THEIR LOGO, TRADEMARK, OR NAME.
OTHERWISE IT'S ILLEGAL AND YOU COULD END UP IN COURT.
Sure, if you pay their licensing fees.
You could use your own pony design on a shirt...as long as it wasn't close to theirs.
"My Little Pony" though is out. It's trademarked and illegal to use on merchandise without the trademark holder's permission.
You can't use their logo or their name, but you can get very close without infringing on their copyright. If you were to draw your own art for a pony and call it My Little Whatever... anything except Pony.
It is BIG trouble to use anything that has copyright or is trademarked though.
